Maxtree, SpeedTree and Globe Plants trees in Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max and Blender
A vegetation pack comes with one model per subject, leaf cards with opacity and materials designed for a single renderer. Everything reads these packs and delivers, for each tree, one native scene per application and per renderer, with foliage materials assigned.
Supported packs
Everything recognizes Maxtree folders (the FBX model, its variants and their materials), SpeedTree and Globe Plants. Each subject becomes a card in the gallery, with its thumbnail.
Leaf opacity and translucency
Leaf cards keep their opacity, and the foliage gets a translucency set the same way in every renderer: Karma, Arnold, V‑Ray and Cycles. The same plant therefore looks alike from one application to another.
Steps
- Install the CGfield launcher with a free account, then Everything.
- Drop the pack folder into Everything.
- In the Delivery section, leave “USD component” off, tick the .abc format, then the native scenes (Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and the renderers you want.
- Export, then open the scene of your application, or drag the tree into the scene from the AssetBrowser panel.
What you get
For each tree, one native scene per application and per renderer, with the geometry loaded and the materials already assigned: Tree_arnold.hip, Tree_vray.mb, one .max scene per renderer, a .blend for Cycles or EEVEE. The Alembic comes out with one shape per material, named after it. A USD component for Solaris can be delivered too.
Good to know
Everything runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. The classic mode needs Houdini 20.5 or later; Maya, 3ds Max and Blender scenes also need the matching application on the machine.
